From High School
Your Monday Vitamin
I first saw this poem in my 1964 high school literary magazine. It knocked my socks off then, and I remembered most of it for sixty years. My talented classmate gave me permission to republish it here.
Tall Floosie
I tell this tall floosie
I hailed in from Chi
That I slept in the Frontenac
But that won’t do
I tell this tall floosie
I believe in J.C. and some in G.M.
And an-ever-lovin’-mama
But that won’t do
I tell this tall floosie
I need her generous, vine arch of eyes
(Don’t care if she’s a hooker)
But that won’t tdo
She’s got to know who am I.
